Gabon: President Ali Bongo appoints former ambassador to Cameroon as new Prime Minister
Gabonese President Ali Bongo has appointed Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet as Prime Minister and Head of Government. The decision to replace Professor Daniel Ona Ondo as prime minister was made public on Wednesday via a statement from the presidency. Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet has been asked to form an inclusive government.
Ngondet, 55 is a native of Makokou and since 2012 has served as foreign minister and Minister of Budget, Public Accounts and Civil Service, responsible for state reform. During his diplomatic career, Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet represented Gabon in Canada, Germany, South Korea, Cameroon and Britain. He was also the representative of Gabon to the African Union in Addis Ababa and to the UN in New York.
