Cameroon’s contingents of Formed Police Units that have undergone training ahead of their deployment to the Central African Republic have been reminded of the roles and responsibilities and the need to be disciplined. The Central Director of Coordination at the National Gendarmerie, Brigadier General Elokobi Daniel Njock, told the 302 gendarmes to be professional and discipline in their intervention.

The close-door forum at the International Academy for Security Forces in Yaounde was held prior to their departure in a solemn ceremony that will be chaired by the Minister Delegate at the presidency.  General Elokobi had three different close door sessions. First with the entire contingent on UN procedures, then another with senior officers who are charged with supervising the troops and finally with female gendarmes who were given special directives against deviant behaviour.

General Elokobi warned the servicemen to respect the personal terms of engagement with the UN mission and to respect gendarmerie code of conduct during foreign missions. The officers who will be going to replace 320 of their comrades currently in the trouble Central Africa Republic will spend one year working under the United Nations Integrated Stabilization Mission.
