Yaounde: Senior military officers wanted by the Special Criminal Court
A number of senior Cameroon military officials have been summoned to the Special Criminal Court. They are suspected of embezzling more than one and a half billion FCFA. Prominent among those to be charged for illicit enrichment are Gendarmerie Colonel Ntamag Emile and eight of his associates.
Cameroon Intelligence Report was reliably informed that the men in uniform are under investigation following alleged misappropriation of shadow wages to some 102 junior officers in a nasty deal that involved the ministries of finance and defence.
A well-placed source at the Special Criminal Court in Yaounde hinted that the said amount of money was paid through the National Fund for Investment Promotion (NFC). All the parties named in the affair will appear before prosecutors of the Special Criminal Court on the 19th of August. This will be the second hearing. It is the first case of financial crime ever by the Biya court concerning those responsible for defense and security.
