Hillary Clinton Clinches Democratic Nomination
Mrs Clinton has become the first woman to lead a major party ticket in the US. Delegations from all 50 states read their votes on the convention floor in Philadelphia.
The ballots for Arizona, which gave her enough delegates for nomination, were cast by a 102-year-old woman, born before women had the right to vote so as to celebrate what the Western media portrayed as a “historic” moment for women.
Sanders supporters disrupted the first day of the convention, often booing and jeering pro-Clinton speakers.
