Special Criminal Court holds second hearing on the Electricity Development Corporation affair
The Special Criminal Court has held a second hearing in the corruption case involving the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Cameroon Electricity Development Corporation. Cameroon Intelligence Report understands the court session took place on July the 14 in Yaounde and Celestin Ndonga, former CEO of Electricity Development Corporation (EDC) was cross examined by judges.
Mr Celestin Ndonga and 14 other defendants, we now know are prosecuted for misappropriation of the sum of 341 million CFA francs. The Tribunal notified the group of the charges against them in the presence of their lawyers. Celestin Ndonga was served the charges against him including the diversion of over 341 million FCFA in his personal capacity, and more than 58 million FCFA in coercion.
The Special Criminal Court suspended the trial process and announced that it will resume on August the 10th. Prominent among the list of 14 in the EDC affair are: Mme Fotso née Nantchouang Tchiyadeu Tchiekouo Alexandrie, Anyu Azafi Rosette, Tchameni Nganaleu Rachel Claire, Mballa Hortense, Mpondo Esseba, Bekolo Ntsama Simon, Ayangma Célestin, Cheungeu Isaac, Miemdjem Yves, Chakoté Chouateng Pierre, Bayo Domou Rostand, Ndomkab Ngewo Richard and Nyangono Esther.
