The Director General of the Cameroon Customs Department, Fongod Edwin has released a memo concerning the clearance of goods at the airports, seaports and land borders of the country. In the document, the custom boss said the clearance of goods at the borders was falling short of the current government regulations including care, assessment and liquidation.

Fongod Edwin Nuvaya (to use his three names) expressed surprise that custom officers access goods without using the scanner.   The DG denounced assessment practices carried out by corrupt custom officers on containers, trucks and bags and reminded his colleagues to be more vigilant in the valuation of goods at customs check points.
