Her Majesty Claude Bergeret Njike, affectionately called “Nteuh Shune”, the widow of the traditional ruler of Bangangté, the late François Pokam Njike has passed away aged 73. The first ever European Queen of the Bangante people died on Monday July 11 2016 after a brief illness.

She was born on June the 5th, 1943 in Douala, Littoral region to Protestant missionary parents and became queen after her marriage in 1978 to King Francois Njike Pokam of Bangangté.

Her husband died on the 7^th of December 1987. Claude Bergeret Njike published several books on the Bamileke culture, including “My African passion (1997)” and “The wisdom of my village” (in 2000).
