Douala Court sentenced Cameroonian nationalist to 6 months in prison
A public prosecutor at the court of First Instance in Bonanjo-Douala has sentenced Cameroonian nationalist, Andre Blaise Manka to 6 months in prison. André Blaise Manka was charged with “destruction of public property.” He reportedly pulled off the head of a monument in honor of French General Philippe de Hauteclocque, aka Leclerc which was constructed in 1948 in Douala.
André Blaise Manka has a massive following and he is loved by the Cameroonian media. He is vehemently opposed to the existence of any monuments that glorifies the French in Cameroon. Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered that the pronouncement of the verdict could not be completed as Blaise Manka’s aunt and a group of his followers disturbed the court session. The Bonanjo court referred the matter to the 4th of July.
