A journalist working for Radio Bonakanda, a community radio station in Buea was kidnapped on Tuesday by unidentified armed men.
May Namondo was seized on duty after armed men stormed the radio station threatening to set it ablaze before taking the journalist away, sources said.
The identity of her kidnappers remains unknown but the station manager of Radio Bonakanda Amos Evande is reported to have said he called the line of the journalist but a male voice in turn replied and said they are keeping her and promised to call back before dropping the call.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the action and the location of the journalist remains unknown.
Recently, armed men stormed the Bonakanda locality and dispersed a crowd that was watching an inter neighbourhood competition and ordered matches to be stopped while warning organizers to put a halt to the competition or ‘face severe consequences’.
