Roman Catholic Bishops in Cameroon have condemned the handling of the Southern Cameroons crisis by President Biya and his gang of ruling Francophone Beti Ewondo elites accusing the political leadership in Yaoundé of giving a deaf ear to calls for dialogue.

Speaking during the 44 plenary session of the Cameroon Episcopal National Conference, the outgoing President, Archbishop Samuel Kleda lambasted the 86 year old Paul Biya over his poor handling of the crisis in Southern Cameroons.

Archbishop Kleda revealed that all attempts by the bishops to meet with the Head of State and offer their services for mediation have met with a stone wall and the doors of Etoudi have remained closed.

“On sseveral occasions, we have offered our services to both parties for dialogue to take place. We formed a team of bishops to that effect but we were never listened to. We requested to be received by authorities of this country, but we have never been received by the highest authority of this country. All attempts for dialogue were simply rejected,” Samuel Kleda said.

The Holy Roman Catholic Church has repeatedly offered to mediate ever since the crisis broke out in Southern Cameroons but the Biya Francophone regime has maintained a kind of deliberate silence.

Even attempts by the Archbishop Emeritus of Douala Cardinal Christian Tumi to hold the All Anglophone Conference were sabotaged by French Cameroun political elites including the state owned media-CRTV.
