Southern Cameroons War: Minister Assomo says 120 soldiers killed, several kidnapped
Francophone Defence Minister Joseph Beti Assomo has told MPs in Yaoundé that the number of troops killed in the fight against Ambazonian Restoration Forces has skyrocketed in recent weeks. The Biya acolyte running the genocidal campaign in Southern Cameroons revealed that some 120 security officers have so far been killed while several others have been kidnapped.
He read out the names of the security forces killed which indicated an increase from the 84 which the Prime Minister, Head of Government Philemon Yang had confirmed in a document last week while unveiling an emergency humanitarian assistance plan last week.
The regime in Yaoundé further pointed out that 74,000 persons have been internally displaced by the crisis though the United Nations puts it at 161.000. The UN announced last month that it has registered some 21.000 Southern Cameroonians as refugees fleeing from the conflict in Ambazonia.
A recent report two weeks ago by Amnesty International accused both Cameroon security forces and restoration forces for committing atrocities as civilians are most often caught in the violence.
