German football fans wiped away tears of despair and disappointment in Berlin on Wednesday, as they watched their national football team eliminated from the 2018 World Cup by South Korea in their final group match of the tournament.

South Korea managed to end their tournament with glory as they eliminated the former World Cup champions with a 2-0 win.

South Korea’s first goal was initially declared offside but a VAR review sealed Germany’s fate as the referee handed a goal to South Korea after revision.

Germany’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s ill-timed attack assistance backfired when South Korea managed to score its second goal and sent Germany out of the World Cup in a shock defeat.
