Anglophone secessionists have released videos of a policeman they abducted in Cameroon on Tuesday. Police inspector Diguengue Patrice from Mayo-Danay in Cameroon’s far north, who was abducted by gunmen between Njikom and Belo localities in the Northwest region where activists have been waging a war against security forces, is heard pleading with the government of President Paul Biya to stop all the atrocities being perpetrated in the Anglophone regions.

“I would like to say that I am ok. They did not beat me up. They gave me food. They gave me something to drink, but what the government is doing is not good,” he’s head saying in the video in French. He said government forces are storming Anglophone regions, killing innocent people, including children and women and throwing them into the water. “That’s not good,” he added.

They are removing people from hospitals, including pregnant women, children and the elderly, and killing them, he said. Inspector Diguengue Patrice called for peace, adding that the brutality should stop. He was reportedly tried by the Ambazonia Judiciary Court(AJC) and sent to the secessionists prison.

The secessionists are agitating for the independence of English-speaking parts of Cameroon in the Northwest and Southwest regions, citing marginalization from the administration of President Paul Biya.

The armed secessionists have killed many security forces, burned down schools and government institutions and kidnapped several prominent people.

They have accused security forces of killing many activists in their bid to quell pro-independence protests, and of arresting and torturing many activist leaders who have remained in detention without trial.

President Paul Biya had said there would not be dialogue in an atmosphere of war, especially when “criminals” take up arms against the state.
