11th February: Manyu SDO issues Order banning the circulation of motorbikes
French Cameroun’s Senior Divisional Officer for Manyu, Oum II Joseph yesterday signed a prefectural order banning the circulation of motorbikes in the Manyu constituency. The Francophone government agent noted in the release that the ban will last till the 12 of February 2018. Cameroon Intelligence Report understands the decision took effect some few hours after it was made public.
The Oum II press release was read over the different radio stations in Mamfe town. According to the Biya regime administrator, the decision is a security measure to prevent any attacked from the Ambazonian restoration forces that have been incessantly flashing out warning signals to schools to boycott the 11 of February celebrations in southern Cameroon. French Cameroun security services maintain the view that the Ambazonian freedom fighters use motorbikes to infiltrate communities.
Cat calls have greeted the SDO’s decision with pro Yaoundé citizens saying the order will only go a long way to intensify the 11 of February boycott and boost the ghost town operations announced by the Acting President of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia. Shop owners have decided to close their shops till Monday because without circulation of bikes, Southern Cameroonians won’t go to the market to buy. Many others have cautioned their children to stay in doors on the 11th of February.
Mr. Oum II is noted for always signing press releases that help to add more fuel to the already existing intractable fire situation. Police officers are already harassing bikers in Mamfe, the chief town in Mamfe.
