Uncertainty Over School Resumption: Philemon Yang told to dialogue with the Governing Council
The people of Bakunma in Ngokentunjia Division, in the Bamenda State have presented a list of 17 demands that the Biya administration should meet before schools will resume in Southern Cameroons. The local leaders handed over their petition to a delegation led by Prime Minister Philemon Yang.
The Bakunma leaders inter alia called for the release of all those arrested as part of the Southern Cameroons crisis, the demilitarization of the Southern Cameroons territory and an immediate constitutional reform that must take Cameroon back to the federal system.
The people of Bakunma stated that the CPDM government must comfort and compensate the families of those who have died and other victims. The Bakunma leadership invited the Government to dialogue with the Southern Cameroons Ambazonia Governing.
Regarding the ongoing dialogue, people of Bakunma revealed that the Government made a bad choice on the quality of mediators sent to Southern Cameroons. Philemon Yang was told Southern Cameroonians no longer trust their political elites (elected or appointed).
On a stronger note the Prime Minister was informed that classes will only resume in schools when the Government has engaged in a dialogue with the Southern Cameroons Ambazonia Governing Council with credible mediators and not with unreliable Anglophone elites.
