The Biya Francophone regime has suspended the activities of the International Crisis Group. The decision was announced on state radio and television by the so-called government spokesman and minister of communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary. Yaounde says the Belgian NGO has been biased and unfair in its reporting on the Southern Cameroons crisis.

The respected International Crisis Group had expressed worries over the mismanagement of the Anglophone situation and in its last two reports published on the 2^nd of August and the 19^th of October 2017, sounded a note of caution to the Biya regime on the possible creation of an armed conflict.

In the latest report released on October 19, International Crisis Group blames the government of Cameroon for the stalemate in Southern Cameroons. The NGO maintains that an “urgent reaction” by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, is needed or the nation risk witnessing an “armed insurrection”.

The organization also hinted of “violent crackdown by security forces on demonstrations by Southern Cameroons activists on the 22^nd of September, the explosion of homemade bombs in Bamenda and the imposition of a de facto state of emergency on September the 29^th  to October 3 “.

These facts are completely refuted by the Cameroonian government, which has decided to suspend the activities of this organization in Cameroon. As is often the case, it was the Minister of Communication and government spokesperson, who made the announcement. Issa Tchiroma Bakary was facing the press yesterday 24 October in Yaoundé.

“The government could not remain speechless in the face of such harrowing aggression. The government therefore refutes the International Crisis Group allegations in its entirety and totally rejects the International Crisis Group report of 2 August 2017 as well as that published last 19, “said MINCOM.
