The Ministry of Public Works has revealed in statement that the Kumba-Mamfe road that runs through Bakwa Supe-Kumbe Bakundu-Nfaitock will be officially commission in December 2017. The political press release observed that the 104 km that virtually opens Southern Cameroons to Nigeria will go operational and improve accessibility.

The Francophone dominated ministerial department also noted that the second segment (Nfaitock – Bachuo- Akaegbe on a 46,880 km linear) will be inaugurated in March 2018. The Public Works Ministry also says work on the 104 km is going on smoothly and that bridge-type structures are 98% complete.

Work carried out on the Bachou-Akaegbe is also reportedly satisfactory, with 68% execution rate. Hydraulic works are 100% complete. According to the Ministry, this performance is explained by the sufficient mobilization of two Chinese companies: China Communication Construction Company and the Provincial Transportation Engineering Group.

Located in Southern Cameroons, the 101.5 km long Kumba-Mamfe road project connects the counties of the Mémé, Manyu and the Kupe Manengouba. It will ensure the flow of traffic between the entire West Cameroon and French Cameroun regions such as Littoral. It also connects the Manyu County in particular to the Cross-River State in Nigeria.

The project is jointly funded by three donors: the African Development Bank (AfDB), whose loan agreement amounts to CFAF 37.370 billion, the Central African Development Bank (BDEAC) With a contribution of 25 billion CFA francs and the State of Cameroon which invests 23,38 billion FCFA.

The contract for Lot No 1, Kumba-Kumbe Bakundu (54.44km) was awarded to China Communications Construction Company Ltd for 32,627,910,415 FCFA HT, while Lot No 2 was granted To the company Jiangsu Provincial Transportation Engineering Group Co LTD. Both companies have 36 months to complete the work-an indication that Cameroon has engineers who cannot even build our roads.
