7 dead, several injured in French Cameroun road accident
Seven people were killed in a traffic accident on the Bafoussam – Douala highway early today Sunday the 14 of May 2017. The accident occurred following a collision between a West region bound bus and a vehicle returning from Buea in Southern Cameroons after a funeral in Dschang, with 8 passengers on board.
Seven people died on the tile and the seriously wounded were taken to the Manjo district hospital to receive first aid. Police sources told CIR that heavy rains would have made the road slippery and reduced visibility. Eyewitnesses say the too many potholes on the road and the speed of the drivers could be blamed for the accident. A lawyer also lost his life in another accident on the same road and his wife and three other women are under intensive care.
Cameroonian roads are considered the most deadly in the world, partly because of their narrowness and the numerous potholes. The speed and condition of the vehicles in circulation, which rarely go through technical visits, are also part of the problem.
