2Face and his gang are playing double standards
Police in the Federal Republic of Nigeria have sounded a note of caution to popular artist Innocent Idibia known as 2Face that he will be arrested if he takes part in the planned march for Monday, February 06 in Lagos. 2Face who is the chief organizer of the anti President Buhari event intends to protest against the incapacity of the government to find a solution to the economic crisis caused by high inflation.
Cameroon Intelligence Report understands that the Lagos State Police Commissioner Fatai Owoseni has informed 2Face that the Monday February 6th march has not gotten any security clearance. Commissioner Fatai reportedly explained that the police had not been informed of the march and to this end would not allow the demonstration. The Lagos police department also pointed out that rogues intends to take advantage of the 2Face led demonstration to steal, harass and attack people.
The 2Face march is also projected in many major cities of Nigeria including Abuja, the political capital. The demonstration in Lagos is scheduled to take place at the national stadium in Surulere. Without being intimidated by the threat of his arrest, 2Face has maintained the march and made public a dress code- green, which is one of the colors of the national flag.
Opposition figures in the Federal Republic of Nigeria are supporting the artist. The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose recently observed that Nigerians have the right to protest whenever they feel wronged. Referring to article 40 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, Fasoye noted that “everyone has the right to freely gather and associate with another person and that a rally does not require police authorization or interference.’ In relation to the police’s idea that the march could cause theft and violence, the Ekiti governor proposed that the police should ensure the safety of the demonstrators.
We of this publication agree with Femi Adesina, the communication advisor to President Muhammadu Buhari who recently opined that even if an angel runs Nigeria, people will always complain. We believe and fervently too that 2Face and his gang are playing double standards in dealing with the economic situation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are also questioning 2Face’s authenticity in fighting against poverty, hunger and economic hardship in Nigeria.
It is surprising that many of the 2Face followers seem to have not taken note of the fact that 2Face thinks and lives foreign. Cameroon Intelligence Report sees 2Face as one of those Nigerians who are consistently inconsistent. For a man who celebrated his wedding in a far away country depriving Nigeria of huge amounts of earnings in flights, hotels, catering etc to turn around and claim to feel for Nigerians to us is shameful, disgusting and disgraceful.
It is also very disturbing that more renowned artists like Flavour and PSquare have decided to keep quite over the 2Face movement. Our desk editor in Yaoundé was heard murmuring privately that a man who received 2 Toyota Prados SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) and a 10 million Naira cash gift from Governor Godwill Akpabio of Akwabom state should not be the one to speak for the poor and the helpless in Nigeria. The Nigerian opposition needs a decent man to challenge government’s failed economic policies not 2Face.
