2 North West Fons crushed to death in Yaounde-Bafoussam motorway crash
Two prominent traditional rulers from the Bamenda County in Southern Cameroons have died in a ghastly car crash on the Yaounde-Bafoussam highway. Cameroon Info.Net reported that His Majesty Thaddeus Njokom of Mbengui and His Royal Highness Doctor Akam Thomas of Kai village in the Momo constituency perished yesterday Saturday the 8th of July 2017 at Bantoum II, a village in the Nde Division in French Cameroun.
The two Fons were in a car that collided with a lorry and they reportedly died instantly. Their car was ordered to stop for speeding before Bantoum II coming from Bangangté. Their driver refused to stop at a checkpoint mounted by the gendarmerie and some road safety officers.
Security sources hinted of a chase of the car of the Fons that finally went to hit a lorry that came from the opposite direction. Speeding and the irresponsibility of the driver of the Fon’s car would therefore be the cause of the drama. The gendarmerie brigade at Bantoum II has opened an investigation.
